Making a popular movie has historically been a good way to create impetus for change, Mundell said.

Year after year, it seems nothing changes. That’s because your votes don’t really count. The reason is simple: Gerrymandering.

Gerrymandering was always a major factor, but with computers, it’s gone from being an art form to an exact science. It’s an open question in my view, how long our country can have a foreign policy that supports democracy abroad, without democracy at home.

My motivation was never to get into the film business but to tell a story that wasn’t getting told and to tell it in a way that unites people of different political philosophies.
